Common questions

Choosing between stairlifts.

Do not see yours? Ask us directly. We answer honestly, even if it means saying you do not need one.

What’s the actual difference between a straight and curved stairlift?

A straight stairlift runs on a single straight rail and suits stairs with no bends. A curved stairlift’s rail is custom-manufactured to follow your exact staircase, including bends, corners and half-landings. Straight lifts are off-the-shelf and quick to fit; curved lifts are made to order.

How do I know which one I need?

If you can draw a straight line down your staircase without it crossing a bend or a half-landing, a straight lift will usually do the job. Anything else needs a curved rail. The easiest way to be sure is a free home survey, we will tell you honestly which applies.

Is a reconditioned stairlift as safe as a new one?

Yes. Every reconditioned stairlift we fit is stripped down, tested and re-certified before installation, and comes with a full warranty, exactly like a new unit. It’s a genuine way to save money, not a compromise on safety.

Will a stairlift damage my stairs or banister?

No. The rail is fixed to the treads of the stairs themselves, not the wall or banister, so there’s no structural work involved and the staircase is left fully usable underneath.

What happens if there’s a power cut?

Every stairlift we fit has a battery back-up, so it will keep working through a power cut. You won’t be left stranded on the stairs.

Do all your stairlifts come with a warranty?

Yes, new and reconditioned alike. Every stairlift includes a full manufacturer warranty, and we handle servicing, repairs and replacement parts locally for as long as you own it.
